Festive bonanza promises big boost for National Lottery retailers

National Lottery retailers across the UK are in for a real treat this Christmas, with the promise of a bumper sales period thanks to special National Lottery draws and increased in-store festive activity.

Retailers can expect to be walking in a Lotto wonderland as the first-ever Lotto Christmas Superdraw Must be Won takes place on Saturday 22 December. A guaranteed £15m Jackpot will be won – no matter what – with the recently-introduced Rolldown feature being activated if no one matches all six main numbers, ensuring the Jackpot prize money cascades down to lower prize tiers.

The excitement doesn’t stop at Christmas, either. Ringing in the New Year will be the EuroMillions special 10 UK Millionaires draw on Tuesday, January 1 which will get 2019 off to the perfect start for the 10 lucky winners.

The new POS for the Lotto Christmas Superdraw is in-store and will prove to be essential in generating sales uplift for retailers. Helping to bolster sales uplift further will be a new EuroMillions 10 UK Millionaires POS which will be in store on 27 December. Eligible retailers can upload a photo of their Lotto Christmas Superdraw PlayStation POS to earn an extra £10 in the AllStars Bonus Event – which runs until 22 December.

Elsewhere among the Christmas treats for retailers are five festive Scratchcards which can make the perfect last-minute stocking filler, Secret Santa present or Christmas card insert. These include ‘Merry Millions’ costing £5 and offering a whopping £1m top prize, ‘Christmas Advent Calendar’ also priced at £5 with a top prize of £250,000’, ‘Winter Wonderlines’ which costs £3 and has a top prize of £200,000,‘Christmas Countdown’ with a £2 price-point and a £100,000 top prize, and finally the £1 ‘Snow Me The Money’ with a  £5,000 top prize.

In addition, some top-selling Scratchcard retailers have been sent a special Christmas-themed light-up Scratchcard dispenser flash – to really catch customers’ eyes and help boost their seasonal sales.

Camelot’s retail director, Duncan Malyon, commented: “We’re bringing merriment to National Lottery players and retailers alike this festive period – with special themed games and draws set to create even more winners than in a normal month. As a result, we’re expecting increases in sales across our range of games during this time – but there are a number of things that retailers can do to further maximise the festive period and get into the spirit of things. These include ensuring that all new POS is out on time and sited in the best possible location, media screens are positioned well and in view, and double-checking their teams are talking with shoppers about Christmas National Lottery products, jackpots and anything else related to the exciting prizes on offer.

“None of this excitement would be possible without our National Lottery retail partners, and we’d like to thank them for their incredible work in 2018 – helping to raise around £30m every single week for Good Causes and making The National Lottery what it is today. We can’t wait to carry on our great work with you in 2019 and we wish you all a very happy New Year.”
