A national charity supporting those in the grocery trade, GroceryAid, has been revealed as official charity partner for the illustrious Neighbourhood Retailer Awards 2017.

It is the second consecutive year GroceryAid has chosen to partner with the event. Last year, a total of £3500 was raised at the awards for the good cause which supports current and former workers in the retail trade.

The charity provided over £4 million in assistance to some 4,300 people last year throughout the UK.

The news comes as entries for the 2017 Neighbourhood Retailer Awards continue to flood in.

The most prestigious event of its kind in the country, the awards promise once again to deliver a celebration of the incredible standards in NI convenience, neighbourhood, food-to-go, and forecourt retailing.

Driven by the industry’s premier publication for the grocery sector, Neighbourhood Retailer, the awards recognise industry-leading companies and people who have made an outstanding contribution to the local retail landscape.

Speaking about the partnership, chairman of GroceryAid for Northern Ireland, Trevor Magill, said: “Without the support we receive at these events, we wouldn’t be able to give the help so desperately needed by some of those formerly involved in the industry.

“It’s a highly valued charity, making life better for a huge range of people involved in the grocery trade, from the factory to the store.

“We’re really looking forward to returning to the Neighbourhood Retailer Awards this year, and anticipating another very successful event.”

The next outing of the annual awards will be held at the Crowne Plaza, Shaw’s Bridge, Belfast (formerly the Ramada Plaza).

A total of 18 award categories are available, including the coveted Retailer of the Year accolade.

The gala dinner provides a unique opportunity for the industry’s leading figures to celebrate their achievements over the past 12 months, and a chance to meet and network with the best brains in the business.
