Ireland’s Convenience Retailer Summit to ‘inspire’ as sales soar

Ireland’s Convenience Retailer Summit will inspire further growth in the market, its organisers have said, as new figures show retail sales soar by 3.3% over the past year.

The February 2017 retail sales index from the Central Statistics Office show an annualised sales increase of 3.3% in Ireland.

And according to its organisers, the Ireland’s Convenience Retailer Summit taking place this September in Dublin will feature inspiration as a key theme to help convenience retailers seize the market’s growing opportunities.

A hand-picked selection of world-class speakers will be on-hand to provide retailers of all sizes with expert analysis and ideas on building their business and maximising the opportunities emerging in modern convenience retail.

The event takes place in the Clayton on Burlington Road, Dublin, on September 6, and will feature some of the biggest names in international retailing, market analysis, and motivation.

“The market is bouncing back but that doesn’t mean the benefits come automatically,” said event organiser and Ireland’s Forecourt & Convenience Retailer publisher, Bill Penton.

“There are a number of incredibly exciting speakers from the cutting edge of US retailing, national experts, and very high-profile motivational speakers already involved.

“This will be the most inspirational event of the year. As the market grows, it’s essential your business grows with it, and this event will give convenience retailers of all sizes the latest information and insights to help them grow ahead of their competitors.”

The themes for the event include inspiration, innovation and motivation, with the 2017 Summit a follow-up to the highly-successful Ireland’s Forecourt & Convenience Summit.

Last year’s inspirational speaker, former All Blacks captain Sean Fitzpatrick, delivers a stirring presentation

The event is a showcase of what’s new, revolutionary, captivating, and vibrant within neighbourhood, convenience and forecourt retailing in Ireland.

The Summit involves three strands, including an inspiring conference, an innovative Trade Exhibition, and the annual Ireland’s Forecourt & Convenience Retailer Awards – one of longest established industry ceremonies attended by an expected 500 guests.

The electrifying event is a mecca for Irish and UK retailers, with special focus on independent grocers, supermarkets, symbol groups, delis, wholesalers, cafes, food to go, restaurants, off-licences, and all types of neighbourhood, convenience and forecourt retailers.

Over 400 guests attended last year’s event, where the keynote address was provided by All Blacks rugby legend Sean Fitzpatrick.

Other speakers included BBC performer David Meade, IGD’s head of shopper insight Ben Miller, Euro Garages director Ilyas Munshi, and MosleyBona founder Joe Bona.

Presentations were also given by RGDATA director general Tara Buckley, and Vice President of Quickchek Mike Murphy, while the event was hosted by respected writer and RTÉ broadcaster Matt Cooper.
