Michael O’Neill meets Irwin’s team
Michael O'Neill, Manager, Northern Ireland National Football Team, spent the morning with Michael Murphy, Chief Executive, Irwin's Bakery, and others from the bakery and the retail industry to enjoy breakfast and talk lessons in leadership with the football star.

The manager of Northern Ireland’s international football squad, Michael O’Neill, has met the team at local bread brand Irwin’s to discuss their support of the Irish FA.

Irwin’s Bakery was one of the hosts at the sportsman’s breakfast with Henderson Retail, Musgrave Retail Partners NI, Co-Operative Food, and Food Force Ireland.

Once the event had kicked-off, grassroots sports in Northern Ireland emerged as a key topic, while Michael also gave the event’s motivational keynote speech.

In her post-match analysis, Colette Wilson, marketing manager at Irwin’s Bakery, said she was over the moon at the event’s success.

“Irwin’s has a long history of supporting grassroots sports development in Northern Ireland and we are delighted to continue our partnership with Irish FA,” she said.

“This is the eighth year we have sponsored the Nutty Krust Soccer Holiday Camps and the partnership has been a brilliant way for us to engage with the local community – as well as encouraging kids to get active.”

The group also explored topics including leadership within a team, the importance of fostering new talent, and encouraging fit and healthy lifestyles at a young age.
