Suspect it? Report it! wins NFRN award

Imperial Tobacco has said it is delighted with winning the ‘Brand Campaign of the Year’ from the NFRN at their national awards in London for Suspect it? Report it!

Peter Nelson, Anti-Illicit Trade (AIT) manager UK and Ireland, said: “Suspect it? Report it! was created in 2014 to highlight the manifold dangers of illicit tobacco to government, industry and society.

“Since that time, the campaign has evolved from a series of adverts into a brand featuring on a wide range of materials including infographics, posters, a Twitter channel @suspect_report and the website www.suspect-it-report-it.co.uk.

“With the full transition to standardised – or ‘plain’ – packaging on 20 May 2017 fast approaching, it is likely that tobacco manufacturers, enforcement bodies and retailers alike will have to contend with an increased threat from illegal tobacco in the near future.

“It is therefore crucial that campaigns like Suspect it? Report it! continue to raise awareness of this issue while encouraging a collaborative approach between all parties to stamp out the illicit trade.

Duncan Cunningham, head of corporate and legal affairs UK and Ireland, added: “Imperial’s approach to AIT remains unique amongst tobacco manufacturers. This award is a fitting tribute to the dedication and hard work to our respective teams who have worked to promote and embed Suspect it? Report it! as the market-leading approach to engaging retailers, consumers and law enforcement alike in tackling illicit trade across the UK.

“We would also like to thank the NFRN for this accolade, who remain a key ally in supporting and protecting the retail sector from threats like the illicit trade.”
