Bestway has announced the appointment of Jim Brown as Trading Controller for Catering, Fresh and Frozen as of 3rd October 2022.

Based out of Bestway’s Head Office at Park Royal, Jim will head up a team of six as part of Bestway’s strategic plan to further grow sales across the Catering, Fresh and Frozen categories within Bestway Wholesale.

Jim has over 30 years of industry experience, having previously worked at Booker, Landmark Wholesale and most recently Unitas Wholesale as Senior Trading Controller for Tobacco, Licensed, Impulse and Grocery.

Speaking of his appointment, he said: “I’m excited to be joining Bestway at this point in the company’s journey and at a time when there are many opportunities to drive sales across Catering, Fresh and Frozen Retail sectors.

“Strong Supplier relationships are a bedrock of everything Bestway stands for and I’m looking forward to making a difference within the business as we continue to deliver the right products at the right price to our customers”.

Stephens Catering Equipment has been awarded the top accolade at IFEX 2022 – Northern Ireland’s premier food, drink, retail and hospitality event – for its smart delivery, Pudu Robotics.

The company is Ireland’s largest and longest established catering and food service equipment company and is based in Ballymena, Co. Antrim.

Competing against a record number of innovative products from across the food and hospitality sectors in Ireland, Stephens Catering Equipment was named as the winner of the Innovation Awards by an independent panel of judges that included Adrian McLaughlin, Ex-General Manager of Merchant Hotel; Colin Neill, CEO of Hospitality Ulster; Glyn Roberts, Chief Executive of Retail NI and Michael Henderson of NI Takeaway Association.

Judges were looking for all-round excellence among the exhibitors’ products with Stephens Catering Equipment walking away with gold for both its Pudu Robotics and also its Falcon Fryer Angel.

Paul Caves, Director of Stephens Catering Equipment, said: “In the post-epidemic era, contactless delivery is becoming increasingly important in the intelligent delivery industry, and we are excited to be leading the way and offering up solutions to the Irish market with the launch of our Pudu Robotics.

“The robots concentrate on delivering customer meals, thereby affording the staff more time to focus on customer engagement and satisfaction. In addition, the robots will help businesses run at maximum capacity.

IFEX, which took place from the 29th – 31st March, saw thousands of visitors from the foodservice, hospitality, catering and retail sectors, descend on the Titanic Exhibition Centre, Belfast, bringing together some of the most exciting businesses in the industry right now.
