A group of walkers from the company celebrated the new milestone with a fundraising hike to the summit of Slieve Donard in the Mourne Mountains.

Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity, providing information and support to those affected by dementia while working to improve care and fund research.

Since launching the partnership with Alzheimer’s Society in March 2021, Moy Park has been raising awareness and funding for the charity through activities including sky dives, quizzes, and marathons.

Marking the milestone, Kirsty Wilkins, HR and Performance Director at Moy Park, said, “We are incredibly proud to support the Alzheimer’s Society and the vital dementia care services they provide to our local communities.  Our teams are literally scaling new heights to raise awareness for the charity, and we’ll continue to bring our energy, creativity, and enthusiasm to our fundraising activities.”

Moy Park’s charity partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society runs in tandem with the company’s other charitable work including its Community Support Fund initiative and support for a variety of local causes.

The new turkey, bacon and stuffing wrap will join the turkey, sausage and stuffing and roasted sweet potato and cranberry sandwiches in store this year, with 10p from the purchase of each sandwich or wrap being donated to Marie Curie and Cancer Fund for Children.

Last year, the initiative raised over £1,400 for the local charities that partner with SPAR and EUROSPAR – raising much needed funds throughout the year.

Bronagh Luke, Head of Corporate Marketing at Henderson Group said they are doing everything they can to support their charity partners in a challenging year; “2020 has been a year like no other, and we have raised our efforts to really support our partners and other organisations in the community to help them navigate the pandemic.

“With the Christmas sandwich initiative running again this year, our shoppers can know they are enjoying a delicious, locally produced sandwich that also gives back to charities whose work has not stopped just because of COVID, so it is even more vital we continue our support.”

Bronagh added; “According to Henderson’s own research* conducted in the summer, over half of our food-to-go shoppers prefer to purchase our dailyDeli products as, in the current climate, they are seen as more hygienic and convenient, providing fewer touch points and less time in store. We’re glad to be able to work with our local supplier to provide these options for our shoppers.”

The dailyDeli range of Christmas sandwiches are available in store from 11 November 2020.
