Moy Park has once again recognised the hard work and dedication of its employees with the return of its much-loved ‘Good Food Roadshow’.

The roadshow, which celebrates the Moy Park brand, saw employees at the company’s headquarters in Craigavon treated to a day of food, freebies and fun with special competitions and giveaways, as well as an all-important lunch, featuring Moy Park branded products.

Ellen Wright, Senior Brand Marketing Manager at Moy Park, explains: “The Good Food Roadshow has been really well received now at both Craigavon and Dungannon and we can’t wait to continue the Good Food Roadshow by visiting the Ballymena site in November to thank our employees for all their hard work on our Moy Park branded products – bringing them to our stores and dinner tables across the UK and Ireland.

“We are very proud of the Moy Park brand and the quality of products within the range. The Good Food Roadshow gives us the perfect chance to show our appreciation and give back.

“There was something for everyone to try, from Chicken wraps to the new Buttermilk Chicken Burgers and tempura chicken stir fry.”

Rushmere Shopping Centre in Craigavon has been placed into administration but is continuing to operate.

Two related shopping centres, Magowan West in Portadown and Peacocks in Woking, are also in administration. The businesses are all associated with the Dungannon-based Moyallen Group.

David Warnock and Stephen Tennant of Grant Thornton have been appointed as joint administrators, the BBC said.

Stephen Cave, head of restructuring at Grant Thornton in Northern Ireland, said: “Our immediate priority has been to ensure the shopping centres continue to trade as normal under the ultimate control of the administrators, with no operational impact for tenants or shoppers.

“We have and will continue to liaise with key stakeholders, as we manage the position and consider future options.”

Rushmere is considered one of Northern Ireland’s better performing shopping centres, with a low vacancy rate.

However the most recent accounts for the company that holds Rushmere, Central Craigavon Ltd, show the value of centre had been sharply marked down.

The accounts for the year ending December 2019 show the property’s value had been revised down from £95m to £58m.

That meant it posted a pre-tax loss of £33m compared to a pre-tax profit of £8m in 2018.

Substantial borrowings from the Bank of Ireland are secured on the centre.

The 2019 accounts show that £98m was due to creditors within one year.

Those accounts also said the group’s directors had obtained the ongoing support of its bankers and accordingly the accounts were prepared on a going concern basis.

Ireland’s number one chicken brand, Moy Park, is celebrating the hard work and dedication of its employees through a Good Food Roadshow, which made its first stop at the company’s Dungannon site.

Ellen Wright, Brand Marketing Manager, Moy Park, explains: “The Good Food Roadshow will travel to each of Moy Park’s factories in Northern Ireland & England, to recognise and thank our employees for all their work on our branded product lines – and bringing the products to supermarket shelves across UK & Ireland.

“We are very proud of the Moy Park brand and the quality of the products in the range, and we wanted to show our appreciation through the roadshow activity.”

At each stop on the roadshow’s journey, the Good Food Roadshow will stage a canteen takeover with branded products to sample, as well as free Moy Park brand lunches, vouchers, competitions and giveaways.

“From Mexican fajita wraps to southern fried mini fillet burgers, there is something on the menu for everyone. The roadshow is a fantastic way to express our appreciation, give an update on what’s next for the brand and most importantly have some fun!” Ellen says.

A luxury shopping outlet in Co Tyrone has been sold to an undisclosed private investor for “close to £4m”.

The Linen Green Designer village, in Moygashel close to Dungannon, has been bought by a local man who does not wish to be named. A representative from Savills, the Belfast-based consultancy firm acting on behalf of the new buyer, confirmed the sale of the shopping village.

They said the buyer intends to “let up the remaining space that’s available” on the site and revealed that fashion store DV8 would be moving into one of the empty lots, potentially within the next month.

Several independent retailers have also shown interest in launching businesses within the mall, with a plan to make the Linen Green “a very desirable destination again for shoppers, leisure-dwellers and luncheons”.

“We’d love to facilitate all kinds of businesses — hairdressers, barbers, wedding shops, floral shops — it’s a great opportunity,” Savills added.

The outlet mall, which has been a mainstay of Mid Ulster retail for over 20 years, was put on sale for £4.5m in early 2021 by the Neptune Group. The property investment group had initially purchased the site for £5m in 2015, and has now sold it at a loss, stating in a letter that its decision to sell Linen Green is a “continuation of its strategy” to dispose of its commercial investment portfolio in London.

Linen Green  is already home to around 30 businesses, including fashion boutiques, homeware stores and eateries. Built on the site of the famous Moygashel Linen Mills which operated in the 1780s, it is made up of multiple buildings that reference its area’s history, including The Cloth Loft, The Workshop, and The Weaving Sheds.
