Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, has confirmed three big jackpot draws will provide huge sales-driving opportunities – as Paris 2024 draws to a close, with the Paralympic Games finishing on Sunday 8th September.

Allwyn previously announced its summer-long ‘Paris 2024’ campaign – which celebrates the unique and authentic role that The National Lottery plays in the journeys of Team GB and ParalympicsGB athletes to the 2024 Games, and the players who helped them get there simply by buying a ticket.

The campaign activity included a pre-planned mega £15 million Lotto ‘Must Be Won’ draw – which is happening on Saturday 7th September. Special POS to support this special draw has already landed in stores, ready to be sited to support sales.

However, Lotto has also naturally rolled to a £12.5 million ‘Must Be Won’ draw – with that mega jackpot having to be scooped on (Wednesday 4th September) – meaning there will be two exciting Lotto ‘Must Be Won’ draws in a row. And, at the same time, EuroMillions is on a rolling streak, with a mammoth £125 million up for grabs on Friday 6th September.

To support this unique opportunity, Allwyn has rushed out tens of thousands of ‘Over £100M’ EuroMillions posters to arrive in stores, ready for Friday’s draw. And in-store National Lottery media screens will also be promoting all three big jackpots.

Allwyn’s Retail Director, Alex Green said: “As the hugely-successful Paris Games draw to a close, the stars have aligned and we now have three massive National Lottery draws happening over the next few days.

“These mega jackpots provide a fitting close to what has been an inspiring summer of sport – with National Lottery players being absolutely vital to the success of our Team GB and ParalympicsGB athletes.

“If they haven’t already done so, retailers should site any POS they receive for the draws and talk to their customers about this trio of amazing opportunities to win. All of this will help shopkeepers boost their National Lottery sales and sales commission, all while helping to raise even more money for National Lottery-funded projects – from the local charity making a difference where you live through to continuing to support our nation’s incredibly talented athletes.”

Boxer Jude Gallagher has an Olympic dream to chase this summer after qualification to represent Team Ireland for the Games held in France.

A dream held since first lacing up a pair of boxing gloves aged 8, the Northern Irish sportsman typifies the characteristics needed to succeed on the grandest stage of them all through his strong work ethic, modest attitude and a desire to be the best – all traits learned and instilled on the shop floor of his father’s Nisa Local store over many years.

Jude’s father, John Gallagher has been in the retail industry since 2011 having opened a 3,000 sq ft Nisa Local store in Newtownstewart.

John, an influential role model for Jude whilst growing up, has gone on to make a substantial success of the retail store whilst balancing other ventures and raising a young family including the future Olympian.

Although boxing now comes first for Jude, John admits he is still a hit with the customers when he does return from his training camps.

“His brother and his cousins are involved in the butchery section of the store and Jude has been in and around the store since he was 13 or 14 years old,” said John.

“Jude has always had the work ethic you need to be successful. A lot of kids at that age don’t work part time and spend much of their time on their phones and on video games. If Jude wasn’t training then he’d be working and if he wasn’t working he’d be focusing on his education, so he’s always lived a busy life and always worked hard.

“He’s held responsibility in the store for many years and he’s brought that into the boxing world with how he carries himself and having the motivation to go out and achieve great things.

Olympian Jude Gallagher with his father, John and DC&SDC Mayor Lilian Seenoi Barr

“Jude trains full time with Ireland now and has done since he won the Commonwealth gold medal so we don’t see as much of him at the moment with all his other commitments, but whenever he is back he will still help out around the store if he’s needed and certainly hasn’t forgotten his roots.

“His background has been the store and the various roles and responsibilities that comes with that and he’s always a hit with the customers when he is back home.

“Jude’s success has been a great feel-good factor for the whole community. Many of our regular customers do come in and ask about Jude and ask to meet him so the local support has been great and I know it is something Jude is very grateful for. It really has brought the whole community together regardless of backgrounds and that has been great to see also.”

Jude acknowledges years spent on the Nisa Local shop floor taught him many of the basics needed to succeed in any profession and admits his father’s work ethic across the store was the role model he required growing up.

“Working in the store has helped me in so many ways,” said Jude. “It has made me responsible, accountable and has taught me to be adaptable. There are many challenges you can face from day to day in the store and you need to be at your best to provide the best level of service for your customers. I’ve always had a strong work ethic and that is massively down to my upbringing and my time spent on the store floor.

“My Dad has been a huge driving force in my career since I started in boxing. He always made sure I stayed on the right path growing up and always made sure I was doing the correct things inside and outside the boxing ring.

“Having come from a farming background, he has an admirable work ethic which he has instilled in me and my brothers and sister from an early age,” added Jude.

Peter Batt, managing director of Nisa added: “Stories like Jude’s are fantastic and goes to show the work ethic it takes to make a success of both his boxing career and his father’s Nisa store. Everyone at Nisa wishes Jude the very best of luck in France and fingers crossed it will be a very special Games for him.”

Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, has launched its summer-long ‘Paris 2024’ campaign – which celebrates the unique and authentic role that The National Lottery plays in the journeys of Team GB and ParalympicsGB athletes to the 2024 Games, and the players who helped them get there simply by buying a ticket.

The unmissable campaign – which includes a range of TV and radio ads, as well as POS assets in Allwyn’s 40,000 retail partners – celebrates the positive impact of Good Causes funding on the nation, raised by National Lottery players. In this case, by providing vital funding for Team GB and ParalympicsGB athletes to allow them to train full time, have access to the world’s best coaches and benefit from pioneering technology, science and medical support.

Paris 2024 fever has already started sweeping through National Lottery retailers with the special edition Team GB and ParalympicsGB £1 Scratchcard launching last month. To boost sales of this iconic Scratchcard and get customers into the Olympic and Paralympic spirit, retailers will have received a new double-sided dispenser POS which can be sited from 22nd July in time for the start of the Games.

More in the way of activity to celebrate Paris 2024 will see three massive special event draws heading to the starting blocks in August and September, helping to get players racing into stores to buy their tickets.

First up, a special £15 million Lotto ‘Must Be Won’ draw will be under starter’s orders on Saturday 3rd August and could provide as much as a 53%* boost in sales for the draw. A huge EuroMillions 10 UK Millionaires draw then takes its starting position on Friday 16th August and – with 10 UK ticket-holders guaranteed to win £1 million each – could provide an uplift in retail sales by as much as 43%**.

And closing off the spectacular Paris Games will be another mega £15 million Lotto ‘Must Be Won’ draw on Saturday 7th September, which will again offer up to a 53%* sales boost. Special POS to support all three draws will be landing at retailers in the weeks before they take place, ready to be sited to support sales.

To further celebrate National Lottery player and retailer support for our athletes at Paris 2024, Allwyn will also be staging two iconic Homecoming events – The National Lottery’s Team GB Homecoming on 17th August in Manchester and The National Lottery’s ParalympicsGB Homecoming on 12th September in Birmingham. In addition to the two ballots which National Lottery players can enter to win free tickets to the star-studded events, National Lottery retailers will also have the chance to win tickets through a special Retailer Hub online competition – more details of which will be announced in the coming weeks.

Allwyn’s Director of Retail, Alex Green said: “We’re excited to be launching this unmissable Paris 2024 campaign that champions National Lottery player support for Team GB and ParalympicsGB at the Paris 2024 Games. Their support continues to be absolutely vital to the success of our athletes, and so it made perfect sense to centre the campaign on National Lottery players to celebrate and thank them for the impact they’ve made.

“We’ve also got lots happening in retail to create a real in-store buzz around the Games – with special event draws, Scratchcards and eye-catching POS. As well as celebrating the Games, this incredible Paris 2024 activity will help shopkeepers boost their National Lottery sales and sales commission, all while helping to raise even more money for National Lottery-funded projects.”

In total, £1.5 billion of National Lottery funding has been invested into elite sport – with over 6,800 individual elite athletes having been supported to chase their dreams since 1997. Through selling and buying National Lottery tickets, National Lottery retailers and their customers play a vital role in helping to support our brilliant athletes at Paris 2024 and beyond.
