Boost has introduced three Juic’d flavours in a new 500ml can format that could be the summer saviour everyone needs in the heatwave.

Francine Matthews, Brand Manager, Boost Drinks, said: “Our Juic’d range has a trio of unbelievable flavours that need to be tasted to be believed: Pineapple and Guava Punch, Mango and Tropical Blitz, Watermelon and Lime Twist. They are juicy, energising, irresistible and the perfect way to keep cool during the warm, balmy days.”

Consumers love to explore new flavours and with the growing demand for the 500ml can format, the timing is right for this new range, explained Fran.

Fran said: “Last year was a huge year for Boost in NI with total unit sales of a staggering 27 million which was driven largely by sales of Boost Energy Red Berry – NI’s best-selling soft drink in the convenience channel.

“We think that the superior blend of real fruit juice and maximum energy in our Boost Juic’d range will appeal to our current Boost drinkers and attract new people who prefer the 500ml can which is the ultimate thirst quencher.”

Fran continued: “Keep an eye out on Boost’s social media pages for more exciting Juic’d activity over the coming weeks which will include sampling opportunities, competitions, and a radio promotion – it’s time to get Juic’d Northern Ireland!”

Boost was established in 2001 after founder and CEO Simon Gray saw the opportunity to offer consumers a great quality energy drink at a fraction of the price of other brands at that time.

Two years later Boost, alongside Hardy Distribution, brought the brand to the local market, making the brand 20 years old in NI next year. Boost Drinks now owns the province’s top selling soft drink within the local independent convenience channel.

Boost is available in various pack formats across Energy, Sport and Iced Coffee products.

Roadside retailer Applegreen has launched its newest creation, braeburn coffee, designed to meet all coffee customers’ needs, featuring non-dairy and a range of ice coffee drinks at the touch of a button.

The range is now available in 26 Applegreen locations including all major motorway service stations and will be available in 75 outlets by the end of 2022.

Braeburn coffee embodies Applegreen’s entrepreneurial ethos and guarantees to make stopping off for a coffee while on the road a truly first-class experience for customers, the company says.

“Our customers’ seek quality, choice and innovation which led to the development of this exceptional braeburn coffee brand. We developed a premium coffee offer that would elevate that on-the-go coffee experience and would be accessible to all our customers – we’re truly proud to see our newest offering come to life,” said Kate O’Shaughnessy, Head of Marketing at Applegreen.

Now in their 30th year of delivering roadside retail excellence, Applegreen set out to capture the hearts of coffee lovers nationwide, working with industry-leading partners to bring to life a concept that is the first of its kind in Europe.

Critical to the success of this project was expanding the expertise within the business – hence Applegreen’s Head of Coffee, Maria Cassidy, one of Ireland’s leading authorities on coffee with more than 20 years’ experience, joined the business in March 2021.

“We’re really excited to launch our new braeburn coffee across the country,” Maria said.

“Today is the culmination of extensive research and testing, and I am sure our thousands of coffee-loving customers are going to really enjoy picking up a fresh cup of braeburn coffee as part of their daily routine.”

Recent research conducted by Applegreen found that over half of Ireland’s population are buying coffee on-the-go at least once per month, with over a third buying at least one coffee per week whilst on the move.

The team also identified an opportunity for iced coffee and found a way to deliver a barista style ice coffee that doesn’t compromise on quality and adds an elevated self-serve experience with textured cold milk.

“To satisfy that demand, we are proud to be the first forecourt and convenience retailer in Ireland to offer state-of-the-art espresso machines allowing us to deliver whipped cold milk that has a silky milkshake texture that marries perfectly with our espresso,” Maria said.

“We’re seeing a surge of demand for iced coffee around the country. As we are adopting newer coffee consumers, for example Gen Z, we must adapt our offering and cater for them with a range of iced lattes and mochas served over ice.

“Testament to this example of how popular our iced coffee is becoming, a user-generated video showcasing our iced coffees recently went viral on TikTok prior to us having officially launched our braeburn coffee brand.”

With notes of sweet citrus fruits, creamy chocolate and rich butterscotch, braeburn coffee is designed to meet the needs of the changing consumer landscape of discerning coffee drinkers.

“The demand for high quality coffee on the go continues to rise and the Irish consumer is quickly becoming amongst the most discerning in Europe, so meeting that expectation for us is high on our agenda,” said Ms Cassidy.

Having set out to deliver the best coffee experience on the road, braeburn coffee at Applegreen brings to life a unique customer-focused coffee experience that delivers quality and consistency throughout their nationwide locations.

Boost Drinks, the owner of Northern Ireland’s second best-selling iced coffee brand within convenience, has expanded its popular range of ready-to-drink coffee products with a new Mocha flavour.

Developed with a delicious blend of indulgent chocolate, South American coffee beans and superior milk content recipe, the Mocha flavour uses exclusive production techniques to guarantee a silky taste and a quality product.

The new flavour offers extended shelf life for retailers compared to other brands, and the £1 PMP format provides strong cash margins for retailers.

Boost Iced Coffee Mocha will complement the popular Caffe Latte, Double Espresso and Caramel Latte SKUs offered by Boost, which makes up for 75% of category sales within the independent iced coffee market1.

The new flavour comes as the Boost coffee range continues to perform ahead of the category, with Boost Iced Coffee now the number one fastest growing RTD iced coffee brand in unit sales.

Research shows that 75% of the sales value within the RTD iced coffee market is made up of four flavours – Latte, Caramel, Espresso and Mocha. The addition of Mocha completes the set of popular flavours for Boost with the flavour being the fourth largest flavour segment in the iced coffee category, with a large 11% market share.

The iced drinks market is already worth £200m and growing at +34% volume and +36% value YOY – making it the current fastest growing category within Soft Drinks.

Adrian Hipkiss, Marketing and International Business Director at Boost Drinks at Boost, said: “Next year we will mark our 20th year in the business in Northern Ireland, so seeing us fulfil our commitment to selling exceptional value products with no compromise on quality such as our new Mocha Iced Coffee is extremely rewarding.

“Iced drinks and iced coffee popularity has soared in Northern Ireland and we are very proud to own the second best-selling iced coffee brand in the region. Investing in new flavour development is key to staying ahead of the curve and ensure we’re continue to offer high-quality functional drinks which we’re confident this new Mocha flavour will offer.”

To support the Mocha launch, Boost is activating a multi-channel marketing communications campaign across both trade and consumer formats, including PR and advertising. Plans involve several experiential events taking place across NI shopping centres with eye-catching POS available to wholesalers, alongside an exclusive distribution drive throughout April with Hardy Distribution, Boost’s NI distribution partner.

Gareth Hardy, Managing Director of Hardy Distribution said of the new addition: “The introduction of Boost Iced Coffee Mocha will make yet another great addition to Northern Ireland, following the highly successful performances of Caramel Latte in 2021 and Double Espresso and Café Latte in 2020.

“We’ve been distributors of Boost in NI since day one, and it is incredible to see the brand grow successfully every year bringing even more products to wholesalers, retailers and consumers alike.”

To generate excitement around the launch consumers will be able to try the new flavour via mobile sampling at key bus and rail stations across Northern Ireland and cases of Mocha will be up for grabs across Boost Drink NI social channels.

OOH and digital advertising will appear from May which will consist of advertising on billboards and bus t-sides within Belfast and extending to other key towns to ensure Boost Mocha is front of mind to encourage impulse purchase.

The new Mocha will be available in wholesale in 12 x 250ml cases.

Boost Drinks reports successful new product launch

A growing public demand for ready-to-drink chilled coffee led Boost Drinks to create and introduce two new 250ml cans of Iced Coffee – Caffe Latte and Double Espresso – to the NI market, and following a successful launch earlier this year, the brand now boasts the third largest and fastest selling Iced coffee brand within the local independent convenience channel, in the region*.

Iced coffee

It was found that over 79 per cent of 18 – 34 year olds have tried iced coffee before** and nearly 20% of 16 – 24 year olds are likely to choose ready-to-drink coffee over barista coffee***. This spurred the drinks company to meet the needs of people on-the-go who are looking for a refreshing caffeine fix.

Boost Drinks is not unknown for their success in NI and has celebrated multiple milestones since launching Boost Energy here in 2003. The company owns the top two selling soft drinks in the local convenience sector.

Product launch

“We couldn’t be happier with how our latest product launch has been received by the Nothern Ireland public,” said Boost Marketing Director Adrian Hipkiss. “We introduced Boost Iced Coffee Caffe Latte and Double Espresso at the start of the year and the demand for the ready-to-drink coffee has been phenomenal.

“Boost Iced Coffee has been in development for a while now and is produced using exclusive techniques to ensure a smooth tasting quality product made from roasting Robusta and Arabica coffee beans from Brazil and Vietnam,” added Adrian.

Boost Drinks was established in 2001, launching in Northern Ireland in 2003 and now owns the province’s top two selling soft drinks as well as the third largest and fastest selling iced coffee brand where stocked in NI within the local independent convenience channel. Boost is available in various pack formats across seven core Energy flavours, Sport, Protein, Iced Coffee, as well as limited editions.
