Centra and Mace will this year act as drop-off points for Christmas gifts donated to vulnerable children as part of a festive charity appeal.

The Downtown Radio and Cool FM’s Cash for Kids Mission last year saw over 6,300 disadvantaged children benefit. The appeal encourages people across Northern Ireland to purchase and donate an extra gift when doing their Christmas shop.

Almost 200 Centra and Mace stores across Northern Ireland will be drop-off points for the gifts until December 18.

Donations of new unwrapped toys, clothes, or games will be distributed to disadvantaged children through a number of governing bodies and charities, to ensure they don’t miss out this Christmas.

Gifts can be purchased for children aged 0-17 years however in recent years there has been a particular shortage of gifts suitable for 0-3 or 14-17 years.

Centra sales director Nigel Maxwell said: “We are delighted that both Centra and Mace are supporting this wonderful charity appeal for a second year. Christmas can be such a busy time of the year and it is very easy to forget those who are less fortunate, especially children as it should be such a magical time for them.

“Centra and Mace stores are at the heart of many communities across Northern Ireland and we felt it was important to help those less fortunate who live amongst us. With almost 200 stores across Northern Ireland we are hopeful that our customers and wider community will also get behind this very worthy cause,” he added.
