Invest NI CEO Alastair Hamilton steps down

Invest NI chief executive Alastair Hamilton has announced he’s leaving after 10 years in the post

Serving in one of the most important jobs in the public sector, Mr Hamilton has left a positive mark on the business industry and has helped increase significant levels of inward investment into the region.

However, this impact has not come easily, as the last decade has seen some of the worst years of the economic crash. Alastair lead a fundamental role in providing strategies for local businesses through Invest NI to ensure the NI economy would not go under.

Commenting on his departure, Mr Hamilton said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Invest NI, and count it a great privilege to have been able to serve the organisation, and my home country, in such a significant role. There is never a good time to leave such a position, but it has been my intention to step down after ten years in the post, which would be during 2019. I intend to explore new opportunities and further expand my other areas of interest.”

Alastair has advised the Board that he will remain in post for a period of time to enable the process to recruit a new Chief Executive, and a smooth transition, to be concluded. The Board will start this process in the near future.
