Proceedings to continue against Tenderlean board

The Department of Enterprise is pushing for action against another director of Fermanagh meat processing company Tenderlean.

The department revealed it is pursuing proceedings against a third director of the Derrylin company as former director Aidan Rothwell (39) of Behey, County Cavan, agreed to a ban from company boardrooms for six years.

The firm entered administration in June 2011 with estimated debts of over £2 million.

Mr Roswell admitted permitting the company to fail to pay employee wages totalling £132,534 over a 12 month period, allowing trading to continue while the firm was insolvent, and failing to ensure its assets were insured, resulting in a loss of almost £20,000 following a robbery.

Tenderlean supplied pre-packed beef, lamb, and pork to supermarkets, convenience stores and restaurants.

Rothwell is the second Tenderlean director to receive disqualification, after Mark McCaffery (40) of Ballyconnell Road, Derrylin, Enniskillen agreed to a boardroom ban in 2012 for eight years.

At that time, the company’s deficiency was estimated to amount to almost £7 million.

A former company based on the site called Tenderlean Meats Limited also went into administration in April 2010.
