Reports of job losses at Lurgan cold storage firm Americold ‘deeply concerning’
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has described reports of job losses at Lurgan cold storage firm Americold as “deeply concerning”.

Reports are circulating that long-serving and loyal employees at haulage firm Americold, in the Silverwood Industrial Estate in Lurgan, are being told they are no longer needed and have been sent home.

One anonymous source said he was told the reason he was being let go was “due to a change in business needs” and that longstanding members of staff had been let go or suspended without warning.

The DUP’s Carla Lockhart said “Details are still a little unclear, but with reports of job losses it is clearly a difficult time for those impacted.

“These are family incomes being taken away, and at a time of a cost of living crisis it is no doubt a time of great uncertainty and worry for anyone losing their employment.

“I have reached out to the company to get more detail on what is being proposed. It is important all employee rights have been upheld. Anyone affected is also welcome to contact me at my office and I will offer what support I can at this time.”
