‘Choking hazard’ prompts Mars recall
Chocolate bars in 55 countries have been recalled by Mars after it emerged they may present a choking hazard.
Pieces of plastic are suspected to have been found in some products, leading to Mars and Snickers products, Milky Way Minis, and Miniatures being recalled. All packs of Celebrations with best before dates ranging from 19 June 2016 to 8 January 2017 are also affected by the recall and should not be eaten.
The company initially limited its recall to Germany, but it is believed to have spread to the UK, France, Belgium, Italy and Spain.
The products were made at a factory in Veghel, in the southern Netherlands, and then exported abroad.
Mars said in a statement: “We want to avoid having consumers who bought one of the [affected] products consume them.”
