Man in court in relation to attempted robbery at Lisburn supermarket
A 33-year-old man has appeared in court where he was charged with the attempted robbery of a supermarket in Lisburn on Friday 7th March.
Michael Morgan, with an address at Linen Wood in Lisburn, appeared before Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on Monday 10th March where he was charged with the attempted robbery of the Costcutter supermarket in Warren Gardens.
He was further charged with possession of an offensive weapon, namely a knife, with intent to commit an indictable offence.
The charges relate to an incident on Friday 7th March when it was reported to detectives that two males entered the shop premises in the Warren Gardens area. One of the men was armed with a knife and they demanded money from staff before making off from the scene.
Detective Sergeant Cargin said nothing was taken during the incident.
“A short time later two men, both aged 33, were arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery,” added Detective Sergeant Cargin.
The second man arrested was released on bail to allow for further enquiries to be conducted.
Morgan was remanded in custody to Maghaberry to appear again at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on Monday 7th April.
