Man arrested in Ards in relation to theft of alcohol from store

A man has been arrested following the theft of alcohol from a store in Newtownards.

The incident occurred on Wednesday 6th August at a store on the Circular Road, when shortly before 3pm a man entered the premises and took a quantity of alcohol before exiting the store. He subsequently left the area in a vehicle parked outside.

Officers responded to the report and the man was located at his home a short while later, where he was arrested for theft.

Sergeant McLaughlin urged retailers to report all incidents to them.

“Please be reminded, police take theft very seriously no matter the amount and our crime prevention officers will continue to work with local businesses to prevent further incidents happening,” said Sergeant McLaughlin.

“Anyone with any information about this incident or who may be able to help with the investigation, is asked to call officers in Newtownards on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 929 06/08/25.”
