Two retail businesses targeted in recent crime incidents

Retail crime is hitting the headlines once again following two separate incidents in the last week.

The first incident occurred on Wednesday 1st October, when a filling station on the Creggan Road area of Derry~Londonderry was targeted.

At approximately 7.50pm, a man pushed his way into the premises and forced a staff member to hand over a sum of money before making off. Thankfully the staff member was not injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as approximately 5’6” tall, and was wearing a black puffa jacket, black trousers, black shoes and a balaclava.

Meanwhile, on Friday 3rd October there was an attempted robbery at an off licence on the Old Park Road in north Belfast.

A man armed with a knife entered the premises shortly before 12.30pm and demanded money from a staff member. No money was handed over and the man left the scene empty-handed, making off along Alliance Avenue on foot.

The staff member was left badly shaken by the incident.

The suspect is described as being aged late 20s or early 30s and was wearing a dark blue hoodie and carrying a green Co-op bag.

Police are asking for information in relation to these incidents and can be contacted on 101, quoting references 1379 01/10/25 and 675 03.10.25 respectively.
