Bangor institution delighted with Bakery of the Year award win
The 2023 Bakery of the Year was described as a “professionally run bakery”, much to the delight of winners, The Heatherlea.
The Bangor bakery is an institution, first established in 1937 as a home bakery and is now a local landmark in its own right.
Owners Paul and Patricia Getty were on-hand to collect the prestigious award at the Crowne Plaza Belfast on Friday 20th October and were all-too delighted with their win.
Judges noted that the bakery was “full of both traditional and innovative baked goods”, adding they were impressed with the “quality and freshness of the product and the helpfulness of the staff”.
After receiving the award, Paul told NR it was a great honour having been up against their competitors and described the win as a “great lift for us and our staff”.
Independently judged by Spotcheck, the awards were judged to exacting standards over a three-month period.
The Neighbourhood Retailer Awards reward excellence, recognise achievement, raise industry standards, and reward entrepreneurial spirit and are Northern Ireland’s most prestigious retail awards.
