News retailers welcome Daily Mail price rise

The Federation of Independent Retailers (NFRN) has welcomed the forthcoming 10p increase on weekday editions of the Daily Mail and has thanked the publisher for maintaining margins at 22.3 per cent.

This means that when the cover price rises to 80p on Monday March 29 that stockists will earn 17.85p for every copy sold.  This equates to an extra 2p per copy.

Commenting, NFRN National President Stuart Reddish said: “We are pleased that the Daily Mail is recognising the tremendous efforts that news retailers have gone to throughout the Covid-19 pandemic to get the newspaper into readers’ hands.

“For everyone operating within the news industry, it has been a remarkably challenging time and we would like to thank Mail Newspapers for maintaining the retail margin.

“Coming off the back of recent announcements of carriage charge freezes, this is really good news.  The NFRN applauds the Daily Mail for supporting news retailers by maintaining terms.”
