Nisa donates more than £1m to local communities in 2022 through MADL
Over £1 million was donated to good causes through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity last year.
Throughout 2022, Nisa stores supported local charities and community groups across the UK with 2,142 donations, totalling £1,085,828, demonstrating retailers’ continued commitment to supporting their local communities.
The figures represent a 3.9% increase in the number of individual donations made and a 2.8% increase in the total figure donated when compared with the previous year.
And the final quarter of the year was a particularly strong one for the charity with retailers keen to support local causes in time for the festive period, collectively donating a huge £527,859.
HELPING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY
Recent donations include funding to food banks, equipment to local sports clubs and sustainability initiatives.
Since its formation in 2008, Making a Difference Locally has raised over £15m and supported good causes with more than 16,000 donations, with beneficiaries ranging from foodbanks, health and well-being charities and refuges to youth sports teams, to name just a few.
Making a Difference Locally is Nisa’s registered charity, which enables independent retailers to donate money to their local communities.
The retailers, all customers of Nisa, raise funds through the sale of specific products in their stores and then choose a local beneficiary for the money.
‘We know that our retailers play a hugely important role in their respective communities’
Kate Carroll, Head of Charity at Nisa
All own-brand products from the Co-op and Heritage ranges sold in Nisa stores contribute to their Making a Difference Locally fund, and additional money can also be raised via Making a Difference Locally in-store collecting tins, coin spinners and clothing banks.
Kate Carroll, Head of Charity at Nisa, said: “Thank you to all our retailers who supported their local communities last year and helped us to achieve this fantastic milestone!
“We know that our retailers play a hugely important role in their respective communities, and I’m delighted they work so closely with MADL to raise the funding to donate to some wonderful causes which are hugely significant in their own local communities.
“Lots of great work is already underway to make 2023 a truly impactful year and we look forward to contributing further in the coming months.”
