Nisa MD Peter Batt leaves company
Managing Director at Nisa, Peter Batt is leaving the company to pursue further opportunities outside the business.
The news was revealed a few days before Christmas, with Peter Batt describing his roles at both Nisa and Co-op as a “huge privilege”.
Having joined Nisa in September 2022, Peter spent his first 100 days in the job visiting and listening to retailers to help shape his strategy and better understand how Nisa could support their business.
In a previous interview with NR, he said that since Nisa had first entered Northern Ireland, the company had strengthened its relationship with NI and grown its presence.
In a statement on his LinkedIn, Peter said when he joined Co-op 10 years ago he admired what the brand stood for and its passionate colleagues, stating he remains “in awe” of the amazing people he has worked with.
“I’m lucky to have had such devoted teams who, I discovered, are as caring and passionate about doing the right thing as I am,” he said.
“I loved that they didn’t always agree with me but was proud that I created an environment where they could say so and more importantly, be themselves.
‘PURSUE FURTHER OPPORTUNITIES’
“From helping to take our Co-op stores to industry-leading, promoting brilliant colleagues, sitting on the Co-op Foundation, Enterprise Trust and Operating boards, supporting apprenticeships, and of course raising huge funds in the Million Pound Mile, I’ll never forget how our colleagues took us through the Covid pandemic with so much care and commitment,” he added.
“Then leading Nisa, learning about independent retail, influencing across the wider food and wholesale market and enabling the business to truly be a part of the wider Co-op, it has largely been a dream come true from start to finish.”
As he looked towards his next challenge, Peter said he owed his “wonderful colleagues past and present and the Co-op/Nisa customers and partners, the biggest thank you in the world for allowing me to have so much fun”.
Meanwhile, Jerome Saint-Marc, Co-op’s managing director for B2B and growth said: “As we look ahead, there are significant growth opportunities for Nisa and our wider B2B business, as we prioritise building deeper relationships and delivering more value for our trusted partners.
“Having both played integral roles, both Peter Batt and Ayaz Alam have decided that now is the time for them to pursue further opportunities outside of the business. We wish them our best and thank them for the contribution that they have both made to our Co-op over many years of service.”
