Only two fines for failure to wear face covering in-store, says deputy Chief Constable

PSNI Assistant Chief Constable Alan Todd has revealed that only two penalty notices have been issued by the to people who failed to wear a face covering. fines are part of a wider enforcement of coronavirus regulations which has seen officers issue more than 7,700 sanctions since last March.

Attack on shop worker in Dunmurry

Meanwhile, the PSNI has launched an investigation after a shop in Dunmurry was targeted in an attempted robbery on Saturday evening. Police received a report a man armed with a knife entered the premises on around 6pm.

The man demanded money from a female staff member, who refused to hand over cash – and he left empty handed. Described as being around 5’3” tall, of stocky build he was wearing a dark Parka coat and a blue face mask. There were no reports of any injuries.

Meanwhile in a separate incident a car at a filling station on the Andersonstown Road in west Belfast was hijacked on Friday around 9pm.
