Retail NI welcomes Executive £700m investment

An extra £700million of new funding has been made available for infrastructure, regeneration and tourism projects to aid Northern Ireland’s post-COVID-19 economic recovery.

The executive is to match fund £562m for city and growth deals across the country and £55m for the Inclusive Future Fund.

It will also provide up to an extra £100m for complementary projects.

Reacting to the announcement, Retail NI Chief Executive Glyn Roberts said: “This is a very welcome announcement which makes a significant step towards a post Covid-19 economic recovery plan for our local economy.

“Retail NI has always been a strong champion of City and Growth Deals as we believe they can be the catalyst for the regeneration of our villages, towns and cities.

“Any recovery plan for Northern Ireland must be regionally balanced ensuring that investment in infrastructure of our rural towns and villages is a priority alongside the regeneration of Belfast and Derry.”
