Tango has launched its popular apple flavour in a sugar free format.

Tango Apple Sugar Free is the latest addition to the popular range, tapping into the growing demand for sugar free products and capturing the same great Apple Original taste, sugar free.

The Tango brand has doubled in size in the last five years, becoming the fourth largest brand in the fruit flavoured carbonates category. Now worth over £61million, Tango is well placed to continue its growth through sugar free flavours, which currently deliver £25million (+54% vs last year) in value sales.

Tango Apple has a lot of heritage and has seen multiple organic social campaigns asking to bring it back in more pack formats. To satisfy consumer demand for sugar free flavours and as the number one factor when choosing soft drinks is low sugar content, it is the perfect time to introduce Tango Apple in a sugar free formulation.

Ben Parker, Retail Commercial Director at Britvic commented: “Tango has a proven track record when it comes to new product development with Tango Berry Peachy Sugar- Free the number one new fruit flavoured carbonate in 2022. Tango’s long heritage with the apple flavour and strong taste credentials, mean Tango Apple Sugar Free is well placed to continue this success and drive growth.”

Britvic is a leader in healthier soft drinks and well over 90% of its brands in the UK are either no or low sugar drinks. Globally, its portfolio contains an average of 25 calories per 250ml serve, with drinks in its Great Britain market being even lower.

Tango Apple Sugar Free is available in Tesco now and launches from mid-September across the wider market in a range of pack sizes.

Leading plant-based food brand, The Happy Pear, is to launch its retail products for the first time in Northern Ireland in an exclusive partnership with Musgrave Northern Ireland.

In a deal estimated to be worth an annual £750,000, the products will be rolled out in Centra, SuperValu and Mace stores across the region over the coming months.

Established in 2004 by twin brothers Steve and Dave Flynn, The Happy Pear began as a small fruit and vegetable shop in Greystones, County Wicklow, quickly expanding to include a café in 2006. The brothers have become well known industry experts on plant-based lifestyle, facilitating a range of online cookery courses and have released five cookery books to date.

Musgrave Group and The Happy Pear have enjoyed a successful close working relationship since the brothers joined the SuperValu Food Academy Programme in the Republic of Ireland in 2013.

Launching in the newly rejuvenated SuperValu Portstewart store, which is due to unveil its new look on 12th August, over 30 Happy Pear products will be available in the range, including chilled soups, meal pots, and ready meals, such as Shepherdless Pie, as well as a range of ambient cooking sauces, breakfast cereals and sweet treats.

Julie Cherry, Trading Director at Musgrave Northern Ireland, said: “Dave and Steve from The Happy Pear have established themselves as leaders in the plant-based food market forming a community of over half a million people who follow their lifestyle.

“With many of our customers focusing on living healthier, eating less meat and protecting the environment, there is an increasing demand for tasty plant-based convenience products, and The Happy Pear products will strengthen our existing offering.

“As we launch our revitalised SuperValu store in Portstewart on 12th August, we’re delighted that it will be the first to stock The Happy Pear products in Northern Ireland. With our exclusive contract with the brand, we aim to roll the range out across our portfolio of Centra, SuperValu and Mace stores in the coming months.”

Dave Flynn from The Happy Pear added: “We’re excited to bring our retail range of healthy plant-based convenience products to Northern Ireland through our ongoing partnership with Musgrave. We have grown an established community of those who wish to live happier lives.  The Happy Pear retail range provides delicious food, packed full of flavour with products for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as delicious snacks.

“From starting out over 15 years ago in a small fruit and veg shop, we have grown The Happy Pear with our café, a farm, a coffee roastery, an online health education courses provider and a supplier of an amazing range of plant-based products. Working with Musgrave gives us the scale we need to expand our community and we’re pleased to work with a likeminded partner who believes in helping people eat well, feel good and live better.”

West Coast Cooler has launched its new look, just in time for a #CoolerSummer.

A new range of West Coast Cooler cans is rolling out in bars, restaurants and off licenses across Northern Ireland, replacing the brand’s 250ml bottles.

New-look 750ml sharing bottles will also be available in off licenses later this summer. Both the bottles and new cans feature on-trend pastel blue and pink labels, inspired by the brand’s original and rosé flavours.

To celebrate the 2022 makeover of the iconic Irish wine cooler born in the 80s, a new ‘Only Cans’ campaign will keep the fizz flowing throughout the summer. The brand has commissioned a special vending machine dispensing only the new-look cans, which will pop up at selected events and brand activations over the summer.

The quirky new vending machine had its first outing as West Coast Cooler officially unveiled its new look at a special ‘BFF Brunch Live’ launch event at Margot, Belfast on Sunday 24 July.

Hosted by Cool FM presenter Melissa Riddell, the event featured special guests including Q Radio presenter, Jordan Humphries and bloggers, Emma Jane Mooney and Fiona McCarten (Gluten Free Fi), sharing heartwarming and hilarious stories of their closest friendships. Guests at the event included media personalities, bloggers, TikTok stars and their best friends.

With digital content harnessing humour and focusing on the theme of friendship, West Coast Cooler hopes to reclaim its place in the hearts of its OG fans, whilst reaching out to a new generation, who are prioritising time with friends as an important form of self-care.

West Coast Cooler may have a brand-new look, but it’s the same great product inside. The refreshing wine cooler is best served chilled, over ice and comes in two flavours – Original and Rosé, in a 750ml bottle, and new 250ml can. West Coast Original has just 93 calories per can and West Coast Cooler Rosé 88 calories per can.

Commenting on the launch, Laura Shiels, brand manager for West Coast Cooler said: “West Coast Cooler has been at the heart of many memorable moments shared by friends for over four decades. With our relaunch campaign, we’re celebrating these friendships and look forward to helping people make more memories this summer.

“Our new slender 250ml can format is a direct response to consumer demand, with cans becoming increasingly popular in the Ready to Drink market.”

Boost has introduced three Juic’d flavours in a new 500ml can format that could be the summer saviour everyone needs in the heatwave.

Francine Matthews, Brand Manager, Boost Drinks, said: “Our Juic’d range has a trio of unbelievable flavours that need to be tasted to be believed: Pineapple and Guava Punch, Mango and Tropical Blitz, Watermelon and Lime Twist. They are juicy, energising, irresistible and the perfect way to keep cool during the warm, balmy days.”

Consumers love to explore new flavours and with the growing demand for the 500ml can format, the timing is right for this new range, explained Fran.

Fran said: “Last year was a huge year for Boost in NI with total unit sales of a staggering 27 million which was driven largely by sales of Boost Energy Red Berry – NI’s best-selling soft drink in the convenience channel.

“We think that the superior blend of real fruit juice and maximum energy in our Boost Juic’d range will appeal to our current Boost drinkers and attract new people who prefer the 500ml can which is the ultimate thirst quencher.”

Fran continued: “Keep an eye out on Boost’s social media pages for more exciting Juic’d activity over the coming weeks which will include sampling opportunities, competitions, and a radio promotion – it’s time to get Juic’d Northern Ireland!”

Boost was established in 2001 after founder and CEO Simon Gray saw the opportunity to offer consumers a great quality energy drink at a fraction of the price of other brands at that time.

Two years later Boost, alongside Hardy Distribution, brought the brand to the local market, making the brand 20 years old in NI next year. Boost Drinks now owns the province’s top selling soft drink within the local independent convenience channel.

Boost is available in various pack formats across Energy, Sport and Iced Coffee products.
