Two men arrested by police in connection with early morning robbery at ATM

Two men have been arrested after officers on routine patrol intercepted an early morning robbery in south Belfast.

Officers were patrolling the Upper Arthur Street area shortly before 12.15am on Saturday 11th May when they witnessed two men assaulting a third man.

It was alleged the victim, aged in his 20s, was assaulted by the two men as he was using an ATM in the area.

Police said the victim sustained a cut to his head and swelling to his cheek as a result of the attack, while his phone and other items were also stolen.

“One of the suspects was detailed by officers at the scene, whilst the other made off towards the City Hall area,” said Inspector Carey.

“He was stopped a short time later. The men, aged 30 and 21, were both arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and robbery.

“I would appeal to anyone who may be able to assist with our investigation or has CCTV, dash-cam or mobile phone footage, to contact us on 101, quoting reference 21 11/05/24.”
