WINNERS’ CIRCLE – JACKSONS OF BALLYNURE

As the countdown to the NR 2023 Awards continue, we take a look back to our 2022 winners, who tell us how it felt to win a Neighbourhood Retailer Award and what it means to them, their team and their business.

Proving they’re a cut above the rest, Jacksons of Ballynure took home the Butcher of the Year Award at last year’s NR Awards. This seventh-generation business knows that hard work pays off, as this wasn’t the first time they won this award.

Owners John and Lynda Jackson were at the gala awards night at the Crowne Plaza Hotel last year and described it as a “fantastic achievement” to win the award again.

“It is a testament to the hardworking and dedicated team that I have, which I’m extremely grateful for,” John told NR following the awards night.

“We are a small business located in a rural village within Northern Ireland, but our customers come from all over Northern Ireland to shop with us here, which that alone is incredible.”

Judges described Jacksons of Ballynure as a “fantastic store”, adding their “range was extensive, and quality of the meat was exceptional”. Judges also noted the staff were “professional, engaging, and keen to give information and advice”.

“Our customers are important to us and we really do go above and beyond for every person that comes through our door,” said John.

“We appreciate all our customers and really push to give high quality service as well as high quality produce. Winning this award is proof of that and has also given us a real sense of accomplishment that we are doing a great job and that our customers feel the same way.

“At the end of the day we don’t want to be the biggest, we simply want to be the best!”
