Armed robbery of north Belfast shop
An armed man entered a shop in north Belfast and demanded cash from a till in a shocking incident last week, that saw staff and customers threatened.
Shortly before 4.30pm on Thursday 20th November it was reported that a man armed with a hammer entered the commercial premises on the Ardoyne Road and forced a member of staff to move away from one of the tills before he proceeded to take cash from it.
The suspect then attempted to use the hammer to damage and attempt to open the other tills in the store, without success and he continued to threaten staff whilst trying to take more cash.
“He then made a number of attempts to assault a customer with the hammer who tried to challenge him and then made off with a till in the direction of Brompton Park,” said Detective Inspector Kitchen.
“He was chased by shop staff and members of the public who managed to retrieve the till.”
Enquiries continue as police investigate the incident, and have asked for anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 1131 of 20/11/25.
