The theft of an ATM from a convenience store in Greenisland has been condemned.

The incident occurred at around 1.30am on Thursday 26th June at Russells store on the Upper Road.

It is understood a van was used to pull the machine out of the building. Police officers were in attendance at the scene and forensics were also present carrying out investigations.

Alliance Councillor Aaron Skinner described the theft as “shocking”.

“This kind of crime is rare in our area, but it’s still a big blow for a local shop and the people who rely on it,” said Councillor Skinner.

“It’s a reckless and dangerous act that could have easily hurt someone. If you saw or heard anything, even if you’re not sure it’s important, pass it onto the police via 101.”

Police enquiries are ongoing and anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything, or who may have dash-cam, CCTV or other video footage, is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 84 of 26/6/25.
