Fundraising gets back on track with local supermarkets supporting Children’s Cancer Charity

With restrictions easing, a host of local supermarkets have taken the opportunity to rev their fundraising for Cancer Fund for Children back to full speed over the summer.

EUROSPAR community supermarkets across the North Down and East Belfast area have raised an incredible £8,500 for the children’s cancer charity, with each taking on challenges and hosting raffles and giveaways throughout June.

Staff from EUROSPAR Rathgael, Carrowdore, Moat Street and Hardford Link also took on an extra challenge, walking and running from Bangor to Donaghadee, supported by sponsorships from friends, family and shoppers.

Nigel Walker, Community Area Champion said this is a fantastic effort from all; “We have a really motivated team who go above and beyond for our charity partner, Cancer Fund for Children, which is evident in this fantastic total of £8,500 raised in just one month.

“From Portaferry to Ballyhackamore, our store teams are consistent in their commitment to support those in their local community, and I’d like to commend all stores and their staff for their efforts and creativity in fundraising alongside their shoppers.”

These latest funds will go towards the partnership’s overall total for the charity, which currently stands at over £1.2 million, with £50,000 raised in 2021 so far by EUROSPAR and ViVOXTRA supermarkets across Northern Ireland.
