Winners announced for SuperValu, Centra and MACE retail brands

While the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the annual awards ceremony being cancelled, today Musgrave NI announced the winners of their coveted titles of ‘Store of the Year’ for SuperValu, Centra and MACE.

McCool’s SuperValu Ballymoney

McCool’s SuperValu in Ballymoney claimed the title of SuperValu Store of the Year for the third year running. The store, at heart of the local community, was recognised for championing local suppliers and local charitable causes. Judges noted their well-trained colleagues have been the key to their success over the years.

Lilley’s Centra Enniskillen

Lilley’s Centra, Dublin Road in Enniskillen was announced as the Centra Store of the Year after taking home the Newcomer title last year.  Consistently high standards and strong sales growth, driven by an excellent team, have all contributed to the store’s recent success. A fantastic example of what makes the Centra brand so successful.

Toland’s Mace Waringstown

For MACE, the overall title went to Toland’s MACE in Waringstown following an extensive redevelopment last year.  Attracting high levels of local and passing trade, providing high quality and an uncompromising approach to customer service made this store stand out for the judges.

Newcomer of the Year

SuperValu Fruitfield, in Richhill which is owned and operated by Neville and Philip Woods, was announced as this year’s Newcomer of the Year.  In the Musgrave owned stores categories, SuperValu Downpatrick and Centra Clipperstown Carrickfergus took the overall titles.

Fundraising Store of the Year

In support of Musgrave’s charity partners, SuperValu Limavady clinched the crown for Fundraising Store of the Year for Action Cancer for a sixth year 56in a row and Hoey’s MACE, Finaghy Rd North winning Fundraiser of the Year for NI Chest Heart and Stroke, both Musgrave’s charity partners.

Excellence Ireland Q Mark

Winners of the Excellence Ireland Quality Association (EIQA) Q Mark Awards were also announced with two stores being recognised this year: Poole’s SuperValu Dromore and Larkin’s Centra, Newry.

Congratulating all finalists, Trevor Magill MD of Musgrave in Northern Ireland said: “Although we weren’t able to bring our retailers together this year for our awards ceremony, it is still fitting to recognise the hard work of our retail partners and their teams as well as our Musgrave owned stores from across Northern Ireland.  We are proud to be able to honour our winners – recognising those retailers who are breaking new ground and who are redefining convenience.

“Our stores are at the very heart of their communities and are dedicated to delivering best-in-class customer service. Never has this been more evident than during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“A huge thank you to each and every one of our retailers who work tirelessly to set themselves apart from competitors through hard work, passion and commitment to excellence.”

Showcase

The annual awards showcase and recognise all of Musgrave’s retailers in Northern Ireland across the SuperValu, Centra and MACE brands. Finalists are selected following several rigorous rounds of performance and standards audits, with the highest accolade being ‘Store of the Year’.
