PRA's Brian Madderson pleased to get Covid business rates relief for forecourts up to 500 sq mtrs

The Petrol Retailers Association’s Brian Madderson is continuing to lobby the NI Executive regarding the closure of ACWs, and the impact of lockdown on forecourts.

“We remain hopeful that the legislators at Stormont will soon be persuaded to permit ACW on forecourts to open. Not nly is this an important vehicle safety issue, it will now assist the financial sustainability of the essential fuel services,” he told the Executive in an email communication.

“Already we are seeing fuel sales at 60 per cent of normal levels (BEIS data) and we anticipated that the six week lockdown in NI will drive down volumes to much lower levels.

“This will severely test petrol filling stations to provide a proper service to ‘essential workers'”.
