SuperValu and Centra toast local craft beers and exclusive wines
Announcing the new range is SuperValu/Centra Trading Manager, James McLornan along with Pokertree’s Darren Nugent at the Carrickmore Brewery
SuperValu and Centra have launched an exclusive range of wines and specialist craft beers, including local Northern Irish brews, to stores across the region.
Some 17 exclusive wines are now available in SuperValu and Centra off-licenses across Northern Ireland.
The ‘Specially Sourced’ range, recognisable by its distinctive circular symbol, is sourced exclusively for both brands, who work closely with the vineyards, making decisions with the wine maker about everything from grape blends to vintage.
The wines are joined by over 50 ‘Select Brews’ beers carefully chosen from craft and iconic breweries from Northern Ireland and around the world. This impressive range of ‘Select Brews’ includes wheat beers, lagers, stouts and ales, almost half of which are brewed here in Northern Ireland.
SuperValu and Centra are the first off-licence chain in Northern Ireland to make County Tyrone’s Pokertree brews, Golden Ghrian Ale and Seven Sisters Treacle Oat Stout, widely available across the province. Other local breweries included in the range are Whitewater Brewery from the Mourne Mountains and Lisburn’s Hilden Brewery.
Some international craft brews included are Einstok Icelanic White Ale, a wheat beer from Iceland, Sierra Nevada, an IPA from California and Er Boqueron, a lager made from purified Spanish sea water.
The full range of ‘Specially Sourced’ wine provides a broader selection of Old World wines as well as great value New World favourites including New Zealand’s Lone Kauri Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
A selection of sparkling, red and white wines make up the Old World wines including Italy’s Grifon Prosecco Frizzante, Spain’s Finca Labarca Rioja Reserva, France’s Pouilly-Fume Foucher. While the New World wines include New Zealand’s Lone Kauri Gisborne Chardonnay, Chile’s Aresti Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and Australia’s Wally’s Hut Shiraz.
James McLornan, SuperValu/Centra trading manager said: “We can now offer customers a greater variety of fine wines and great craft beers from Northern Ireland and around the world. We are also excited to be supporting local breweries, such as Pokertree Brewery, as we are the only off-licence in Northern Ireland to make its beer widely available.”
