Hot on the heels of Friday’s record-breaking £201 million EuroMillions jackpot draw, Camelot is predicting another huge sales boost for National Lottery retailers thanks to this Wednesday’s (13th December) £12.8 million ‘Must Be Won’ Lotto draw.

With special POS to support the enormous rolling EuroMillions jackpot being sent to 19,000 retailers last week, more than 4,000 tickets a minute were sold at National Lottery outlets across the UK in the last hour of sales last Friday (8th December) – giving National Lottery retailers’ bottom lines a massive boost just ahead of Christmas.

Thanks to their hard work and enthusiasm, the surge in sales seen across the week also helped to add millions more to the £30 million that The National Lottery raises for Good Causes every week – great news for all of the wonderful projects up and down the country that rely on this funding to continue their incredible work to support people and communities in need.

And the retail sales bonanzas and opportunities to raise even more money for Good Causes don’t stop there. Wednesday’s £12.8 million ‘Must Be Won’ Lotto draw promises to bring even more sales retailers’ way, giving them a second shot at benefiting from increased sales and footfall around the draw. And all this as we approach the two massive £15 million ‘Must Be Won’ Lotto draws on 23rd and 30th December, which will offer further festive sales boosts for retailers over the holiday period.

Camelot’s Retail Director, Alex Green said: “Our retail partners did a fantastic job last week and they’ve now got another chance to maximise their sales again this week, after Lotto rolled to a huge ‘Must Be Won’ draw on Wednesday.

“This continues the recent sales momentum that we’ve seen from the extraordinary EuroMillions jackpots, and offers retailers great opportunities to drive even more sales around the draw, by doing things like talking about the big Lotto jackpot on offer, how it simply must be won and getting POS sited in the best possible place.”

The 18th December deadline for completing your Transfer of Retailer Agreement (TRA) from Camelot to Allwyn is fast approaching.

Allwyn, the incoming operator of The National Lottery has urged any independent retailers who have not yet completed the TRA to do so before Monday 18th December.

All independent retailers will have received communications outlining what they need to do to complete the TRA, including:

  • Registering their store and creating an account to start the process
  • Confirming their personal details (they’ll need the last three digits of the bank account used to pay their current National Lottery invoices, as well as proof of identity)
  • Reading and signing their Transfer of Retailer Agreement

Retailers can access the portal via TNLpartners.co.uk or by scanning a QR code featured on the communications they’ve been sent, and it’s worth noting that this process can only be completed by the store owner.

In addition to the wider independent estate, Allwyn and Camelot have also been communicating with independent Post Offices to enable them to continue as National Lottery retailers in the Fourth Licence. The majority of these Post Offices will move across in February. For those that need further support, Allwyn is in the process of contacting all of them individually to explain the next steps.

Following the 18th December Agreement transfer deadline, retailers will receive a ‘Welcome to Allwyn’ pack early in the New Year, which will contain more information on what they can expect from 1st February – including initial details of new and improved National Lottery games from March 2024 onwards. Retailers will also receive information about the training they will need to complete digitally ahead of the changeover.

Camelot, operator of The National Lottery, is expecting huge sales boosts for National Lottery retailers across the month of December thanks to three special bumper jackpot draws and a range of festive Scratchcards to celebrate the Christmas season.

First in the trio of mega jackpot draws will be the estimated £173 million EuroMillions Super Jackpot draw this Friday (1st December), which is expected to provide as much as an 83% sales uplift for National Lottery retailers.

Helping shop tills jingle all the way into the New Year will be two £15 million ‘Must Be Won’ Lotto draws on Saturday 23rd and Saturday 30th December, which could net National Lottery retailers up to 85% in boosted sales – in addition to increased footfall around the draws.

To help drive sales in retail, The National Lottery’s award-winning Christmas advertising campaign returns this year after a hugely successful first outing last year, while special POS for the draws has already started landing in stores – the first of which should already be sited ahead of Friday’s massive EuroMillions draw.

As an added incentive to help National Lottery retailers get their POS sparkling, Camelot is also doubling retailer rewards in December – giving them the opportunity to earn even more for uploading pictures of their Christmas POS. This is alongside the chance of winning one of the big quarterly prizes, including the grand prize of £10,000 – which would be sure to start 2024 off with a bang!

The Christmas spirit continues in store with The National Lottery’s range of festive Scratchcards, which are fun and safe Christmas gifts that make for the ideal Christmas card fillers or last-minute presents. From the two £5 games – ‘Merry Millionaire’ with a top prize of £1 million, and ‘12 Pays Of Christmas’ with £100k a month for a year on offer – to a £3 ‘Festive Fortune’ game with a fantastic top prize of £300,000 and the £2 ‘Jolly 7s’ game with £100,000 up for grabs, there’s something for every player. In addition, POS with special metallic ink has been landing in stores since November to promote the ‘£250,000 Gold’ Scratchcard as a fantastic Christmas gift to shoppers.

Camelot’s Retail Director, Alex Green said: “We have an incredible series of big draws lined up in December, starting with an enormous EuroMillions jackpot draw on Friday. These will be sure to have customers coming into stores to buy a ticket for their chance of becoming a multi-millionaire at Christmas.

“We’ll also be supporting retail sales with some special POS for the big Lotto and EuroMillions draws, as well as sparkling POS for the Gold Scratchcard which is particularly eye-catching.

“Retailers can also do a number of things to help drive those extra sales too, including talking to customers about the big draws and making sure POS is sited prominently – something that can earn them double rewards in December.

“They can also suggest buying a Scratchcard at the till, as a gift or as an extra purchase to go with their EuroMillions or Lotto ticket. All this will help towards the £30 million raised each and every week by National Lottery players for Good Causes.”

Allwyn, incoming operator of The National Lottery, has urged any independent retailers who have not yet completed their Transfer of Retailer Agreement (TRA) from Camelot to Allwyn to do so as soon as possible by logging on at TNLpartners.co.uk.

The deadline to complete this is by 18th December 2023 at the very latest.

“With just under eight weeks to go until the TRA deadline, we’re delighted to report that over 75% of all independent retailers have now logged on and completed this,” said Allwyn’s Operations Director, Jenny Blogg.

“This is testament to the great co-operation and support we’ve seen from our retail partners, working hand-in-hand with our joint Allwyn and Camelot Retail team.

“However, we’re now working to reach those remaining retailers who have not yet signed – as we would hate for them to miss out on the exciting plans we have lined up from February onwards. We’re really grateful to National Lottery retailers for prioritising this – and for all they continue to do in selling National Lottery tickets in their stores and helping to raise over £30 million a week for Good Causes across the UK.”

WHAT TO DO

Allwyn, incoming operator of The National Lottery, has confirmed that its new online retailer portal has gone live and has urged independent National Lottery retailers to log on via TNLpartners.co.uk at their earliest convenience.

To ensure retailers don’t experience an interruption to their National Lottery service, they will need to log on and electronically transfer their existing Retailer Agreement from Camelot to Allwyn by 18th December 2023 at the latest.

All independent retailers will receive communications outlining what they need to do to complete this, including:

* Registering their store and creating an account to start the process

* Confirming their personal details (they’ll need to hand the last three digits of the bank account used to pay their current National Lottery invoices, as well as proof of identity)

* Reading and signing their Transfer of Retailer Agreement

Completing this process will ensure their store is set up to continue selling The National Lottery ahead of the changeover from Camelot to Allwyn on 1st February 2024, and it’s worth noting that this process can only be completed by the store owner.

Retailers can access the portal via TNLpartners.co.uk or by scanning a QR code featured on the communications they’ve been sent.

Camelot Retail Sales Executives – working on behalf of Allwyn – will be visiting retailers over the next few months to talk them through the key changes and to answer any questions they might have ahead of signing the Agreement through the portal. Or they can call the free Retailer Hotline on 0800 8 40 50 60 if they need any help. The portal is smartphone compatible and includes a simple ‘how to’ video to make the transfer as easy as possible.

Allwyn’s Retail Director, Katharine Challinor, said: “Retailers will receive communications outlining what they need to do to complete their Transfer of Retailer Agreement. We ask them to logon to TNLpartners.co.uk at their earliest convenience to watch the ‘how to’ video and complete the steps outlined. If retailers need additional support or have any questions, their Camelot Retail Sales Executive will also be visiting them in store to guide them through the process.

“We appreciate summer is a busy time for retailers, so we’re really grateful to them for prioritising this – and for all they continue to do in selling National Lottery tickets in their stores.”

As a reminder, under the new Agreement, commission levels will remain the same for National Lottery Draw-based Games, Scratchcards and prize payments, and payment terms will remain the same for all games. In addition, any bonds and Direct Debit mandates already in place will automatically transfer from Camelot to Allwyn.

Allwyn will also be removing the monthly lease fees for existing Compact Lottery Terminal (CLT) retailers in the Fourth Licence (saving some retailers up to £600 per year) and introducing additional player protection measures and support. The majority of the changes to the Agreement have come about as a result of changes to the law and changes associated with the Fourth National Lottery Licence.

Following the 18th December Agreement transfer deadline, retailers can expect to receive a ‘Welcome to Allwyn’ pack early in the New Year, which will contain more information on what they can expect from 1st February – including initial details of new and improved National Lottery games from March 2024 onwards. Retailers will also receive information about the training they will need to complete digitally ahead of the changeover.
