US doughnut company Krispy Kreme rolling out plans for Belfast store

American doughnut company, Krispy Kreme will be bringing joy to the tastebuds of Northern Ireland consumers as it plans to open a store in Belfast.

While unable to confirm when the store would be opening, a spokesperson said the company “can’t wait” to expand into Northern Ireland.

Krispy Kreme launched in Ireland in 2018 with the opening of a ‘Theatre Store’ in Blanchardstown, Dublin, later opening an Irish factory in Naas, Co Kildare in 2021.

EXPANSION

It was announced last year that the doughnut and coffee chain is expanding into the west of Ireland, as well as increasing the number of branches in Dublin, Louth and Kildare. Their expansion plans also include a deal with Irish petrol station retailers, Applegreen and The Plaza Group which would see Krispy Kreme doughnuts sold at nine Applegreen locations and four Plaza garages.

While the Belfast store is still in the planning stages, the spokesperson said: “We can’t wait to bring the joy of Krispy Kreme to Northern Ireland and will update our fans when we can share more news.

“We are also bringing joy to more of Ireland over the coming months, watch out for more details coming soon.”

They added that the next Krispy Kreme shop will open at Carrickmines Park on Tuesday 31st January.
