SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT – GILFRESH PRODUCE

County Armagh company, Gilfresh Produce is sponsoring the Fresh Food Store of the Year category at this year’s Neighbourhood Retailer Awards.

A family-run company, Gilfresh Produce is based in Loughgall and was first established by the Gilpin family in 1965. It has continued to grow and expand since then, now firmly established as one of the country’s leading vegetable providers.

The company is dedicated to the growing, sourcing, processing and packing of the highest quality whole head and prepared vegetables for retail and food manufacturing customers throughout the island of Ireland.

Established in 1965 by Thomas Gilpin, a four-acre field at his family home was the genesis for the business, growing cabbages and scallions for the Belfast Market and supplying a small customer base.

By the 1980s, they began supplying retailers when in the late 1980s they started supplying supermarkets, delivering to their distribution centres throughout Northern Ireland. Since then, Gilfresh Produce has continued to grow and expand their customer base, meeting demand for fresh, quality, locally grown vegetables.

In 2022 the company enjoyed a relaunch and rebrand of the Gilfresh Prepared vegetable range, including Carrot Batons, Sliced Leeks, Broccoli Mix, Oriental Stir-Fry and Vegetable Stir-Fry.

The Gilfresh range continues to be developed and is now available from leading retailers across Ireland including Centra, Mace, SuperValu, Eurospar, Spar, ViVO, ViVO Extra, Tesco, Lidl and Dunnes Stores.

Managing Director of Gilfresh Produce, William Gilpin said they were extremely proud to sponsor the Fresh Food Store of the Year category at this year’s awards.

“Gilfresh Produce are delighted to join this event and celebrate the dedication and achievements of all the independent retailers who play such an important role in the convenience store market,” said William.

“The fresh food industry constantly has to face new challenges, but as a grower and a supplier to the convenience retail market we know that we are stronger when we face these challenges together and are thankful for the support that you give to us to continue to provide locally grown vegetables to local customers.

“It is wonderful to get the opportunity to celebrate the retailers who have been unwavering in their support of promoting the best of fresh, local produce and we at Gilfresh would like to wish all the entrants in the ‘Fresh Food Store of the Year’ category the very best of luck and we look forward to celebrating with you in October.”
