EUROSPAR Dromara’s Community BBQ returns, raising over £4,000 for local charity

EUROSPAR Dromara held a barbecue for the local community last month, raising an incredible total of £4,295 in vital funds for local cancer charity, Cancer Fund for Children.

The BBQ, which took place last month to welcome in the summer months, was highly anticipated by many in the local community, as what used to be an annual event has now returned for the first time in three years.

It has always been a big success, with the first taking place in 2016, and has raised over £16,000 for Cancer Fund for Children over the years.

It was an exciting day for all the family with a long list of fun-filled activities including face painting for the little ones and an amazing atmosphere with thanks to the local DJ, Maggie James Roadshow.

Many local businesses and personalities also donated amazing pieces to be auctioned off or won in the store’s raffle, such as boxing gloves signed by Carl Frampton, a TV from Curry’s, JCB coats, a family photoshoot with a professional photographer, and vouchers and donations from local beauty salons and restaurants.

The EUROSPAR Dromara team got involved by helping out wherever they could, both in organising and on the day, showing their support to the charity and appreciation to all in the local community, creating an amazing event for all those involved.

Cancer Fund for Children offer support to children and young people facing cancer or living with a family member going through cancer, here in Northern Ireland. The money raised during the BBQ will go towards the running of their Daisy Lodge respite care centre and help continue the vital work they provide throughout local communities in Northern Ireland.

Irene Hunter, Customer Advisor and Community Representative at EUROSPAR Dromara, who runs the annual event said: “It was fantastic to be able to bring back our annual BBQ after three years. The event is much loved within this community and supported by many local businesses and individuals.

“We want to thank our amazing team, all those who attended and those in the local community who donated, for making the event the success that it was. It is so important to us to show support to Cancer Fund for Children, a charity which is doing vital work for many families across the country.

“We hope this money will go a long way and look forward to continuing our support for Cancer Fund for Children, as well as holding up our annual BBQ tradition.”
