Nisa retailers have some flipping great deals for Pancake Day

Nisa is providing its independent retailers with a raft of flipping fantastic deals on a range of Pancake Day essentials for the event on 16th February.

Research reveals that 85% of people are participating in Pancake Day this year and with people consuming on average two pancakes each on the day, it presents a sweet opportunity for retailers to stack up on sales.

Basic pancake ingredients

Retailers will be able to cater for shoppers planning on cooking from scratch with competitive prices on all the basic pancake ingredients including Be-Ro flour 1.1kg bags for £1, Tate and Lyle granulated sugar 500g for 59p and a range of Co-op fresh fruit punnets – including strawberries, blueberries and raspberries – at less than £2.20 each.

Shoppers with a bit less time on their hands are catered for with a range of ready-made pancake mixes including McDougal classic pancake mix 192g and the Greens pancake mix shaker bottle 155g at just £1 each.

Sugar and lemon

Whilst a study has confirmed that sugar and lemon juice reigns supreme as the most popular pancake topping, maple syrup and chocolate spread also made the shortlist, and Clarks Original Maple Syrup 180g at £1.50, Nutella 350g at £2.50 and Lotus Biscoff spread 400g at £2 are all included in the promotion.

Graham Holbrook, wholesale category controller at Nisa, said: “Research reveals that 1 in 5 shoppers celebrating the occasion opt for ready-made pancake mix, meaning that convenience is key to enable a quick turnaround and pancake mix will be top of many shoppers’ lists.

Pancake toppings

“Stocking multiple pancake toppings offers shoppers a range of options meaning there will be something available for everyone. And with people still stuck indoors due to the national lockdown, events like Pancake Day provide an excuse for families to get together in the kitchen and celebrate.

“Pancake Day ingredients are routinely unplanned and frequently bought either on, or close to the day itself so it’s important to have all the key products available and placed in a high-footfall area in-store.
