Praised for the “huge range of fresh food” in their store, SPAR Castlederg was thrilled to win the Fresh Food Store of the Year at this year’s Neighbourhood Retailer Awards.

Owner, Charlie Hamilton said the win meant a lot for the ‘pride of the staff’ after they were named as winners at the Crowne Plaza Belfast on Friday 20th October.

Judges in this category were looking for excellence and choice in the food offerings, the best in local produce presented in a convenient and enticing way, along with expertise and knowledge among staff.

Independently judged by Spotcheck, the awards were judged to exacting standards over a three-month period.

Judges said SPAR Castlederg had a “huge range” of fresh food available in-store.

“From fresh local meat and vegetables to bakery, prepared meals, salads and sauces – the quality and value was outstanding,” they added.

Speaking to NR after being presented with the award, Charlie Hamilton said it was “all a team effort”.

The Neighbourhood Retailer Awards reward excellence, recognise achievement, raise industry standards, and reward entrepreneurial spirit and are Northern Ireland’s most prestigious retail awards.
